Bored Ape Yacht Club is an NFT Collection like no other. And as a result, the team behind the apes, Yuga Labs, creates wildly ambitious things like ApeFest – a 4-day, top-tier, immersive music festival – for community members only. We were honored to design and manage the creative production for the festival, which took place at and around Pier 17, in New York City.
Our work at ApeFest stretched across three enormous areas. Up front at Arrivals, highlights included a 65-foot-long inflatable ape, as well as 65-foot-high sails flown on a historic ship docked next to the pier. Inside Pier 17, we took over a 35,000 square-foot raw space and built out an immersive retail experience that begins in the gritty NYC streets and opens into a museum-like streetwear presentation. And then on the rooftop itself, we transformed the venue’s Corporate VIP Bar into a 1970s dive, and spread the BAYC vibe across every surface and structure available to us.
Oh, and we achieved it all inside a 35-hour-straight load-in window.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how it came together.
Huge thanks to the incredible team at Yuga not just for being great people and clients, but also visionaries and creators who are responsible for so many of the branding and graphic elements looking so damn good. It’s not every day your client is such an integral part of your creative team – and spoiler alert: it rules.
